Is still worth giving Usenet a try again? Are there any technology Usenet groups that are still active and worth subscribing to?

Why yes. I follow comp.lang.c, comp.lang.awk, comp.unix.programmer, comp.unix.shell, comp.lang.lisp.

Make an account on Ray Banana's "Eternal September" server (or any one of the others), connect a client and you're good to go.

comp.lang.python is one of the busier (programming) groups as well.

GoogleGroups strips all leading whitespace.

news:comp.lang.fortran has been helpful to me.

news:alt.folklore.computers is active

I enjoy the news:comp.sys.acorn hierarchy but then I was an Archimedes user.

comp.lang.fortran will be sorely missed; there is no good alternative anywhere else for discussions of the language.

comp.sys.raspberry-pi is active and well worth subscribing to.
