VS Code remoting is great and magic when it works well (which in my experience has indeed been most of the time), but it's still so much overhead versus native builds and native support. I use WSL for the rare times I need to use Ruby, but Node has been mostly good enough in Windows for years at this point and it is nice to have native builds with no remoting overhead.
